The last time Argen and Cindy invited me to the Handicapped and Mentally Disabled Children Centre Melaka, Amy the nurse requested for heap of garbage bag. Since the centre is the shelter for many handicapped children, everyday it produces large amount of rubbish such as food waste, used diapers, etc. Amy then hopes that we could bring many of large garbage bags for the centre. We were told to hand the bags to her directly so that she could administrate the use of the bags in the centre.

Early this week while I had some free time, I purchased twenty bags of ten garbage bags made from 100% recycled plastics and handed to the centre’s management. We hope that it would help the centre to manage the waste better and keep it as hygiene and clean as possible for the children and staff living there.

Thanks to our kind friends for the contribution for helping the children. We are committing our ongoing support and love that we hope will be able to contribute to the wellbeing of the children.

May all beings be happy.

Pop-rockers the Veronicas have sung out against fur in a new campaign for People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals.

The ad features twins Jess and Lisa Origliasso each holding a shockingly realistic skinned “rabbit” with a caption reading: “Here’s the rest of your fur coat.”

The twins launched the ad campaign outside Sydney’s Queen Victoria Building today, both wearing PETA T-shirts branded with the slogan “Mean People Wear Fur”.

They condemned Australia’s continued fur imports, most of which come from China, saying they are unnecessary.

Jess explained the campaign was to “discourage people from buying fur and educating them from where it came from”.

PETA says the campaign is aimed at the world’s leading fur exporter, China, where animals on fur farms are often skinned alive.

It says dogs and cats are killed in China for the international fur trade but with Chinese fur often processed and relabelled in other countries, it’s difficult to identify where the fur has come from.

“For us, fur is barbaric and unnecessary,” Jess said. “There is no need for fur.”

The Origliassio sisters have always liked PETA’s strong visual campaigns and are very proud to be part of their campaign against fur.

Because of their involvement in fashion design they felt it was the right campaign for them.

KUALA LUMPUR: The people can now get organ donor registration forms at selected post offices.

The project is a collaboration between Pos Malaysia Berhad and the Health Ministry in conjunction with the ministry’s Organ Donation Awareness Week running from Oct 16 to 24.

The ministry appointed Pos Malaysia as an agent to enable Malaysians to obtain donor registration forms at 19 post offices, and plans to extend the service to more post offices in the near future.

Pos Malaysia group managing director and chief executive officer Datuk Syed Faisal Albar said the outlets selected were general post offices (GPOs) and post offices in the Klang Valley with a high volume of customers.

Participating GPOs include Kuala Lumpur, Shah Alam, Kuala Terengganu, Alor Setar and Kuching. The post offices in the Klang Valley include the ones in Medan Tuanku, Gombak, Bangsar, Kelana Jaya and Kampung Tunku.

“Currently, more than 147,092 people have pledged to donate their organs and we believe many more are willing to pledge,” said Faisal.

The organ donation registration forms are specially-made postcards with the organ donor pledge card attached.

Customers only need to fill the form and mail it with a 60 sen stamp to the National Transplant Resource Centre. They also need to keep the donor card.

three white with brown spots puppies for adoption

My neighbour received unwanted gifts today – three mongrel puppies. They are white with brown spots yet looking cute and beautiful. The mother is so sick that it could not feed any of these puppies. So they are left with my neighbour. It’s sad to say that if they are not adopted within these two days, they will be put to sleep permanently.

They are waiting for adoption in order to survive.  Therefore, by having ones of these beautiful pupies within your family it is very likely that you saved a life. Not only are you saving their lives, but also you are adding a companion to your home that is sure to love you unconditionally for your kindness.

Hope these puppies can find a happy home. They are now in Ujong Pasir. If you are interested, please contact me o16-88o7877 (CJ) before tomorrow, 23rd October 2010.
