Abbott Malaysia - corporate social responsibility

MALACCA: Some staff from Abbott Malaysia had taken time off to paint the walls at the Sekolah Kebangsaan Convent Infant Jesus(1) Melaka, here.

The group of 45 staff also spent time with underprivileged children and fixed the grills at the Fatima Home, a home run by the retired Catholic priest.

They also provided contributions at another home — the Happiness Centre, a centre for the disabled at Taman Anggerik, Malacca.

Muru Annamalai, general manager of Abbott said that this is part of their corporate social responsibility.

“We want to touch people’s life and spend time together with the children and painting the walls together with them is one of the means.

“It’s gratifying to see smiles at the children’s faces when conducting games and activities at the Fatima Home and also at Happiness Centre,” Annamalai added.

SK CIJ(1) headmistress Katherine Tan said children need not be involved academically, but they could also partake in other activities like the painting the walls, painting the pathways with special wordings and others.

“Today is our co-curriculum day and we take this opportunity to get the children involved, 20 students and 10 teachers joined the Abbott staff in this activity,” she said.
